This week ended well with much knowledge attained in visiting other businesses in city doing café business. I got alot of exposure by knowing how other people are doing things. Especially if they are doing it in better way you are able to pic a leaf.
The evolution of café in the village is leaving every stone turned, apart from running cafe, coffee shop, and teaching computer.
We added another service of instant passport photos. It was not easy before to get passport photos but with presence of good camera and color printer we are able to make it.
New development, so far students who are on computer lessons, have greatly improved now most of them can type, start computer and shutdown. This great news, I continue to get more people who want to enroll for the same. This part of the developmenti was talking about, where people are benefiting from our innovations.
Through watching different video on permaculture now some farmers have started developing new home gardens, previously people would wait for the rainy season but with exposure now any time they can do the planting since they got enough exposure on benefits of irrigation.
crops grow well due to enough irrigation, this going to increase food production, thus hunger, poverty and diseases will be no more. People will have increased income and job created for the youth.

After Days in city without going to the Café,I am finally back in village. Its very important to note despite my busy schedules, every thing at the café continue to move smoothly. This gives me courage of better management system we use and teamwork. Teamwork can make work move on smoothly.
The performance of the café,Coffee shop and now computer training is going well
Now another new service to be introduced,With help of our colour printer we have instant passport photos. Many people move to city to get passport photos at an affordable price.
In terms of prices here we try to charge affordable price to make sure that, with the limited income of our people they are able to get better services. Our role here is to improve on livelihoods of individuals and protecting environment

Evolution of café in this village was liked by everyone. Although some have nothing to with internet especially the aged people and illiterate people but in one way or another the project is helpful .
After testing the issue of computer studies, the next step is to focus on starting a vocational school.
There are four more people who are requesting to study computer along side the four already on course
After seeing this demand to learn more about the computer, I got to realize that there was gap in this village to study. This has encouraged me to think big in as far as helping this community is concerned.
Beiing part of the PrinterNet Foundation Network we have been able to set up this cafe that is doing well.

Yesterday’s dispatch from Atwongyeire Joseph
Monday operations went on well, where as I was away in city, on my arrival my support staff briefed me on how things went on on ground.
Micro project becomes meaning full with a good team, I must say I have good team on ground, same as in the nursery bed.
Cafe business is like any business where good customer relationship must be considered I must say that we are excelling in that.
More so ,we have tried to show our people (café users) that we are reliable. Although I tried to increase the cost especially when there no electricity, people are able to understand because the cost of petrol that our generator uses is expensive, if we remained using same cost we can lose much
In future, I hope with a presence of solar panel we shall do much better. But let’s not focus on that but on vocational school.
Today’s dispatch
As far as Café is concerned, the journey is pretty well. This comes with many things to learn, not only users can learn but also us controlling business we learn alot, I think in future if some is to do a different business you can pic a leaf.
It’s the greatest experience so far, same as support staff is learning alot, The user benefits are increasing, when talking to one person who was applying for university, he got a response from University using the platform. Another testimony ,this young boy was also applying for jobs and he got an email from the company he was applying, he is scheduled for interviews any.
I can spend a whole day mentioning feed back from users, but so far it’s changing lives of people, socially and economically.

Just in from Atwongyeire Joseph in Uganda — Onward, ever onward. Because of the new resources brought in after completing the micro project of establishing a self sustaining cyber cafe, the next micro project is to build a building to house Joseph’s full vision.
“After two weeks of operation, with a few challenges, we continue to press on, as usual there no operations without challenges but every challenge met is a stepping stone. This has given us encouragement to press on
We have come up with the timer that helps us to have all time fully utilized without going beyond. If your time clocks it will close your screen until you add more money. It’s a greatest achievement so far, we had lost many hours in that until I brought a specialist in computer and who is my friend as well
With now five computers now, the introduction of cafe here has created more opportunities for the youth.this has come at a time when there is need for the same.
We are living in a world every day some thing new is being innovated, with the help of internet most youth have benefited. I must say this week was OK in terms of revenue turn up
Cafe investment becoming more interesting than I thought, this makes our chat we had before we started the same more valid. Many people come to realize the importance of café.
To those who thought it’s for those who went school, here it’s not the same, even those who have not gone to school wants to communicate with friends, relatives in other places. Thus they have to use a cafe, some come and ask our support staff to help them sign up email account ,our support staff is doing a great job in guiding people how to use the same.

Today’s dispatch from Atwongyeire Joseph
“Internet just proved to me that there was a gap in our village ,internet currently is acting as a bridge between the ordinary and modern life.
Life becomes more meaning full than any thing. with people searching and getting results from internet makes life more easier.
Those who apply online they keep on coming to check on responses from different universities. Where as some of those students who are not able to have coffee or cold drinks because they have no income at all. They entirely rely on guardian /parents but we cant take their coming here for granted.
They make us do better. As they enjoy the most affordable internet cafe here”

After two weeks of operation, with a few challenges, we continue to press on, as usual there no operations without challenges but every challenge met is a stepping stone. This has given us encouragement to press on

An extra computer is to be put in place for those who are having a need to study a few computer program. Mostly those programs will be micro soft excel, word and other related.

As time goes on we shall have more users than any where else. Only what I see will not work here is printing, just like i told you we shall plan doing the same in future.

The news of the Internet cafe in the village spread like wind in the desert. Today the numbers were more than we can handle. Some got disappointed because they thought we had a printer and a photocopier. They wanted to do more than Internet work. I contained their disappointments by optimistic premises of purchasing one in the near future.

Welcome to Uganda the Pearl of Africa and thank you for choosing ONE VILLAGE TOURS as the best travel company in Uganda, which gives you motivation, love, composure of a life time memorable experience and the feel for Uganda – African culture, climate, biodiversity, nature and wildlife at full hand.

We are a social enterprise. We earmark 20% of our profits to invest in community development in the village. While there are many choices for people to go our eco tours, a better way to understand what we have to offer is Agri – tourism.

Agrotourism is a direct expansion of ecotourism which exposes tourists to experience agricultural life at first hand. While you experience the natural landscape you also experience the cultural landscape by experiencing agricultural life at first hand

It is also a way of gathering support for small communities as rural people have realized the benefit of sustainable income brought about by similar forms of nature travel. Visitors have the opportunity to work in the fields alongside real farmers and support them according to their needs and capacity.

UGANDA

Joseph Before June 15

It all started with tree planting, as an eco-warrior  I met Mr Michael since them were remained in touch, about 200,000trees planted as one way of protecting environment..

Using crowdfundraising I didn’t do much, in my subsequent chats with you I learn a lot, I realized we can do much using money raised locally. This started with 1200$ grant  where two computers were bought, Wi-Fi installed.

Now the story of PrinterNet café starts here. It was the most beautiful thought I have never had to have this cafe in place  this started slowly, with one support staff it’s doing great

Student who are applying for further studies come in here, to search for best universities where they can go.

Those who have graduated too come to search for available jobs. This has greatly saved resources of these young people  instead of traveling to city to do the same.

“We realized that this project can well be managed with help of good transport system, as I talk the motorcycle is in place, I no longer take hours to execute activities”

As if that is not enough, we have now grown to a bigger space that can now accommodate other computer.

I’m not only looking at cafe but making it more comfortable for the users. What do I mean here?

When some spends more time on computer  you need to refresh your minds etc, so we are considering having a refrigerator for the same and have a few soft drinks.

In future I will also consider brewing coffee for those interested. As I told you before we shall consider having more branches especially near any institution for higher learning especially for more printing etc

Youth unemployment remains a serious policy challenge in many sub-Saharan African countries, including Uganda. In 2016, youth (aged 15 to 24) in sub-Saharan Africa were twice likely to be unemployed compared to any other age cohort. For Uganda, in 2017, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics revealed that the share of unemployed youth (national definition, 18-30 years) among the total unemployed persons in the country was 64 percent.

Given the rapid growth of the Ugandan population three-quarters of the population are below the age of 30 years coupled with the fact that the youth are getting better educated through higher access to primary and secondary education, a stronger focus on job creation for this cohort of people cannot be overemphasized.

Causes of youth unemployment are believed to be multifaceted, ranging from an inadequate investment/supply side of jobs, insufficient employable skills (i.e., youth possess skills that are not compatible with available jobs) and high rates of labor force growth at 4.7 percent per annum.

In this regard under the support of PrinterNet, we have invested in the café that is going to change lives of the youth. Most youth as I had highlighted in previous posts , they use internet to search for jobs, apply online to universities. Some universities put announcements on websites in case of any update so youth are required to check.

With installation of Wi-Fi here in village hopes of many have been restored,Many youth come to use internet to search. There is a lot of information that can help youth get jobs. Agriculture is the back born of Uganda, most of youth are able to read a lot of information about
About the youth employment we are looking at having a vocational school, this will help youth to study courses that can easily get jobs, such subjects are carpentry, plumbing, tailoring etc.with combined efforts we shall achieve all goals.

The café which started some weeks ago, keep on changing lives of many youth. In all the five villages which our project cover we have about  350 youths, Not all of them can read and write, sime of them didn’t get chance to go to school because of so reasons, some have parents but their parents are not able not able to take care of them, others are double orphans ,yet others are not studying because of domestic violence. All in all the numbers of youth who use internet the numbers are increasing.

The numbers is between 20-30 per day, and not every one is able to come every day this gives me an impression the number that use internet is more than 30 per week.We should be doing better than this but as I mentioned most youth some of them still lack skills. I hope with introduction of vocational school we shall do much better.

They are some youth who come with friends to see how internet works,This means they interested in learning but with time the situation will be control.

The project which that with the installation of Wi-Fi some days back now, its turning our 5 villages a model villages.after adding more computer more users keep on coming to search.this going to bring in bleed of idea.as they say information is power but now here lack of information is history ,people now informed on may issues.

When the president was reading a national budget some people came to watch  his speech, people get to know available opportunity. With this wider space that serves coffee and cold drinks has made the café more comfortable for the users.each day we selling more that 10 cold coke soda, this about profit of 2000sh per day and 5000 sh on tea, hoping the number of user increase we shall increase.

“The current four computers can’t accommodate the available people because new about the café is spreading like a forest fire, there more computers the more people that come and the more we sell  more drinks”

You can’t talk about the café in village here without talking about the PrinterNet, it started slowly with the installation of Wi-Fi, later, to two computers, now we have five as I talk. This is the best experience ever  here.

People search for various information any the same time taking coffee. This has not only helped the locals but also  travelers .its now a stop over for many tourists

It’s not only about the café but improving the livelihood of people in village, we have support staff gaining from the same investment  and we hope in future this will go beyond this.

About, education students applying online, and same time applying jobs online.
